Mission Diverse CIC is environmentally conscious and is committed to considering the environmental impact of the way we operate and deliver our services. We recognise that consultancy, training, meetings, events, business travel, technology and the use of physical resources can contribute to carbon emissions and wider environmental impact. Our approach is to take reasonable steps to reduce unnecessary environmental impact while continuing to meet the needs of our clients, services and business.

Reducing unnecessary travel

Where appropriate, Mission Diverse may use virtual meetings, remote consultancy, online training and other digital methods where these provide an effective alternative to unnecessary travel. Where travel is required, we may consider public transport and other suitable travel options taking account of factors such as journey distance, accessibility, safety, cost, timing, client requirements and the nature of the work. Our aim is to reduce avoidable travel rather than prevent face-to-face delivery where it provides value or is required.

Digital working and resources

Mission Diverse makes extensive use of digital systems to support the delivery and administration of our work. Where appropriate, we may use electronic documents, digital learning resources, online collaboration tools and electronic communications in place of unnecessary printing and physical distribution. We encourage responsible use of paper, equipment and other resources and seek to avoid unnecessary waste.

Training, consultancy and events

When planning consultancy, training, meetings and events, Mission Diverse may consider environmental impact alongside client requirements, accessibility, service quality, safety, cost and operational needs. This may include considering virtual delivery, venue location, travel requirements and electronic distribution of materials. Environmental considerations form part of our decision-making but do not override the needs of our clients, participants or services.

Responsible use of resources

Mission Diverse supports reasonable measures to reduce waste and unnecessary consumption.

These may include:

• reducing unnecessary printing;
• using digital resources where appropriate;
• recycling where suitable facilities are available;
• reusing resources where appropriate;
• avoiding unnecessary purchases or waste; and
• considering environmental factors when making relevant operational decisions.

Our environmental approach

Mission Diverse seeks to make environmentally responsible choices where these are reasonable and appropriate for our organisation. We recognise that not every activity can be delivered without environmental impact and that different circumstances require different approaches.

Decisions may take account of:

• client and contractual requirements;
• accessibility;
• health and safety;
• safeguarding;
• service quality;
• cost;
• availability;
• operational requirements; and
• other relevant circumstances.

Nothing in this notice represents a commitment to use a particular method of travel, delivery, procurement, technology or resource in every circumstance.

Carbon reduction

Mission Diverse aims to reduce unnecessary carbon emissions associated with its activities where reasonable opportunities exist to do so. We do not claim through this notice to be carbon neutral, net zero or to have achieved a specific level of carbon reduction unless such a claim is separately supported and published by Mission Diverse. We may review and develop our environmental approach as our organisation, services and available technologies change.

Continuous improvement

Mission Diverse is open to identifying reasonable opportunities to improve the environmental impact of its operations. Our environmental approach may develop over time and may include changes to the way we travel, deliver services, use technology, manage resources or work with clients and suppliers.

Status of this notice

This notice is a statement of Mission Diverse CIC’s general environmental approach. It does not create contractual rights, employment rights or obligations for employees, workers, contractors, clients or other third parties. It does not create a guarantee that any particular environmental measure, travel method, working arrangement or operational approach will be adopted in any individual circumstance.

Mission Diverse retains discretion to determine how its services and operations are delivered, taking account of environmental considerations alongside business, client, legal, financial, safety, accessibility and operational requirements.

Mission Diverse may amend this notice from time to time as its activities and environmental approach develop.
